VE Commodore wins People's Choice Award for 8th year

Holden’s highly acclaimed VE Commodore, spearheaded by the new Series II range, has won the carsales.com Ltd People’s Choice Award in the large car category for the eighth consecutive year.

Carsales.com Ltd, Australia’s number one automotive classifieds company, announced the award today after online car buyers voted for their favourite vehicles using one of its many websites, including carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au and Redbook.com.au.

Carsales.com Ltd Chief Executive Officer Greg Roebuck said the awards were the only popular poll where car buyers determined the winners themselves.

“Commodore has taken out the Large Car category every year since our awards were instituted. Holden is a household name in Australia and a key part of the automotive landscape,” Mr Roebuck said.

“That Commodore continues to dominate the large car marketplace is testament to the ability of the model range to engage with both fleet and private buyers alike.”

Holden Executive Director for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, John Elsworth said the award reflected Commodore’s capacity to cater for a wide variety of motorists.

“Customer accolades are the ultimate recognition and reflect the fact that Commodore has been the bestselling vehicle in Australia for the past 14 years,” Mr Elsworth said.

“Our entire approach to Commodore has been about making a great car even better. It’s about introducing more improvements more often and getting technology into the car that our customers need and want. “That’s what we have done with the VE Series II range. “Our customers have been telling us they want to see our models refreshed with greater functionality. “We have listened and responded in a way that continues to position Commodore as the smart choice for Australian motorists.”

Votes for the People’s Choice Awards were collected from the Carsales Network websites between 1 November, 2009 and 31 October, 2010. Commodore’s win capped off a successful awards period for Holden which also saw the Captiva range claim the People’s Choice award for Australia’s most popular medium-sized SUV.
